Well summer has actually been over for a few weeks now and it certainly feels like fall outside. While we spent much of the summer on the boat we really didn’t go very far. Mary Ann’s AfterSails business really started to take off in late spring and early summer so we dedicated some time to it. The Thousand Islands are nice but can get quite crowded and noisy in the summer and we prefer a little more peace and quiet. We got to know some of our dock neighbour’s a little better since we were around more. Then in August we drove to Newfoundland for my mother’s 90th birthday celebration. Most of the Jerrett clan from all over Canada and the U.S. as well as many of Mom’s friends and neighbours gathered for a big celebration that went on for several days. While we were gone, we loaned our boat to friends Ron and Lynne who were boatless for the summer. They enjoyed the Rideau Canal and the islands for a few weeks. We also took a short trip up the canal mid-September. It was quite nice for the first half of the trip but cool, wet fall weather then arrived right on schedule. Thanksgiving Day weekend we cleaned the boat up and prepared it for haul-out and storage for the winter, before returning home for a big Thanksgiving dinner on the holiday Monday.
